B’nai Sholom Reform Congregation in Albany will screen “The Mad Adventures of ‘Rabbi’ Jacob,” a French comedy of frantic disguises and mistaken identities, on Saturday, Feb. 15, at 7:30 p.m.

B’nai Sholom is located at 420 Whitehall Road in Albany. Refreshments will be available and there is a suggested contribution of $5.

Tu BiShevat, the Jewish New Year for Trees, will be celebrated with a special seder on Sunday, Feb. 9, from 5 to 7 p.m. at B’nai Sholom Reform Congregation in Albany.

A new musical, written by a local playwright and performed by local actors, is meant to help people who are struggling.

A new course taught by Rabbi Don Cashman at B’nai Sholom Reform Congregation will look at what Reform Judaism has to say and teach about creating a Jewish money ethic.

“Creating a Jewish Money Ethic” will be offered Thursdays beginning Jan. 30 at 10:30 a.m. at the synagogue at 420 Whitehall Road in Albany.

 

ALBANY COUNTY — Cornell Cooperative Extension Albany County offers a four-week Strengthening Families Program for youth ages 12 and older and their parents or caregivers.

The series begins on Wednesday, Feb. 5, and runs from 5:30 to 8 p.m. for four weeks: Feb. 5, 12, and 26, and March 4.

GUILDERLAND — The McKownville Fire District will hold its regular meetings for the year 2020 on the first Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at 1250 Western Ave.

All meetings of the McKownville Fire District are open to the public.

GUILDERLAND — Local vendors, growers, and buyers are invited to attend the free Capital District Region Farm to Fork Local Food Expo on Wednesday, Jan. 22, from noon to 4 p.m. at Guilderland High School.

The Mendelssohn Club of Albany will hold auditions beginning this week for male singers interested in joining the club for the second half of its 111th season. Interested tenors and basses are invited to rehearse with the club on Wednesday evenings starting Jan. 15 at 7:15 p.m.

ALTAMONT — Ten seats are left on a trip to Provence and the French Riviera, sponsored by St. Lucy/St. Bernadette Church in Altamont.
