BKW host inaugural Christmas tourney

BERNE — The Berne-Knox-Westerlo Athletic Department along with the BKW Sports Booster Club are hosting their first-ever Christmas Tournament. Both boys’ and girls’ varsity and junior-varsity teams will be participating in the two-day event.

“Let’s make this a huge BKW community event; come out and cheer for the Bulldogs as well as helping to support the BKW Sports Booster Club,” said organizer Dennis Barber.

BKW varsity and junior-varsity boys will have in their bracket two teams they used to play when the Schoharie County League was in existence — Greenville and Cairo-Durham — as well as a current Western Athletic Conference foe, Mayfield.

The BKW girls’ varsity bracket has Greenville, Albany Academy, and Rensselaer while the junior-varsity girls have Duanesburg, Greenville, and Rensselaer in their bracket.

Games will be played in the Ray “Pete” Shaul gymnasium from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on both Monday, Dec. 28, and Tuesday, Dec. 29.

Plenty of food and drinks will be available and BKW apparel will be for sale.
