Peter was always ready to lend a hand

To the Editor:

Last week, we tragically lost a member of our community. Peter Becker was perhaps the town of Berne’s happiest employee, always smiling, always ready to help.

In a time of such loss and tragedy, we should reflect on what really matters in life and treat each other with dignity, respect, compassion, and empathy.

Berne is a beautiful, peaceful place to live, which is why so many of us are here. We are a community of family, neighbors, and friends; we all share this beautiful town and should be working side by side to keep it that way.

Please do not let a life be in vain and remember that Peter was always ready to lend a hand and be a friend, an example we should all live by.
