Dennis Robert Porter

BERNE — Dennis “Denny” Robert Porter of Berne, a mail clerk who loved his family and who found joy in simple pleasures, died on Monday, Sept. 29, 2025, at The Grand at Guilderland. He was 68.

He was born on Oct. 30, 1956, a son of the late Robert Porter and the late Esther (née Lee) Porter.

“Denny spent his youth in South Berne and was a proud graduate of Berne-Knox-Westerlo High School,” his family wrote in a tribute. “He dedicated his career to serving others at the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance as a mail clerk, where he worked with steady reliability until his retirement.

“A man who found joy in simple pleasures, Denny loved hunting and enjoyed playing pinochle with his brothers and nephews. He was a longtime member of the Berne Masons Lodge, whose fellowship he cherished.

“Family meant everything to him, and he carried a quiet strength and a generous spirit that touched everyone who knew him.

“ In this time of sadness, may those who loved Denny find comfort in cherished memories and in the enduring love he shared with family and friends.”
