Berne Dems skipping this election as part of strategic plan

To the Editor:
Please read beyond the headline: Berne Democratic Party is strongly approaching upcoming elections according to our developing strategic plan.

It is very unfortunate that The Enterprise ran the headline that it did in the print version of its article on the Berne Democratic Committee published on July 20, 2023. The headline read “Berne Dems in disarray.”

The spirit of this headline is not only unsubstantiated by the article, it is not supported by the statements that we gave to the newspaper.

Our strategic decision not to pursue candidates until the 2025 election was made because only two board seats are available this year. That very small minority, on an adversarial board, would not have the authority to act on any level.

In the election of 2025, we will have the opportunity to capture a majority of seats. This will allow us to fight effectively for our town — as we always have.

We welcome all requests for a copy of our press release and answers to all follow-up questions that we emailed to the journalist who wrote this story so that you can see for yourself.
