COVID rebound: Guilderland Chamber and Historic Altamont each get $50K grants

To the Editor:
A shot in the arm has been delivered for the Guilderland area business community with a $50,000 county grant, financed by American Rescue Plan money. Guilderland Chamber of Commerce head Sandra Dollard and former head Kathy Burbank were both creative and tenacious in formulating and helping to secure the grant.

The “Four Seasons of Guilderland and the Hilltowns Beyond” promotional campaign will highlight the four seasons of activities in Guilderland, Altamont, Voorheesville and the Hilltowns, with a publicity campaign that will focus on the different seasons of the year. Dollard said it is a great opportunity to pull together so many rich resources into one cohesive effort.

As the lone Guilderland representative on the county legislature subcommittee that approved the grant, my top priority was ensuring Guilderland got its fair share of public funds to boost the quality of life for residents and businesses alike. I eagerly anticipate the benefits of this program. I am grateful for the unanimous support the full legislature provided.

Altamont’s county legislator, Jeff Perlee, and I are so pleased to report that Historic Altamont received a $50,000 grant as well. Their funding will be used to design a network of trails around the village and to construct a trailhead pavilion in the commercial core of Altamont to mark the termination of the Long Path from New York City and to disseminate information on trail options, local attractions, and local businesses.

The rebound from the dark days of COVID continues.
