Berne should work to get broadband

To the Editor:
Below is a letter I sent to the Berne Town Board at the end of December. Not surprisingly, I received no reply.

I looked at the minutes that have been posted on the town’s website since my letter and there too I find no mention of my letter or any discussion of the broadband issue.

This is what I wrote to the board in December:

In reading the progress that the town of Rensselaerville has made to determine the need for broadband in the community, identify funding sources, and connect with the county to find solutions to the lack of connectivity, I searched to find what our town has done on this important issue.

Having found nothing, I write to the town to ask that it set up a committee to survey the town’s need and to identify steps forward.

Perhaps...

Perhaps they did not understand. It seems they have yet to master how to open mail/email containing bills which then go unpaid for a while....

Regardless, it is a great idea and one that Leadership might want to pursue. Just a few phone calls by them to those in Rensselaerville could save time and effort. Who knows what resources may be available and it would be a shame to miss out by assuming there are none.
