VOORHEESVILLE — The driver of a car rammed through by a train in Voorheesville on Monday night was not hurt but was arrested after his blood-alcohol level was found to be three times the legal limit, according to the Albany County Sheriff Craig Apple.

The incident occurred on CSX’s tracks crossing over North Main Street, near Grove and Prospect streets.

“The vehicle that was hit by a train earlier in V’Ville was occupied,” Apple wrote on social media. “The driver did NOT sustain injuries, but was arrested for DWI after he blew a .26.”

A video posted on Facebook shows the front wheels of a dark sedan over the tracks as a train approaches. When the train hits the car, it is knocked on its side and then rights itself.

Media reports quote Apple as saying the driver, Kyle Jacobson of Voorheesville, got his car stuck on the tracks.

A request for an interview was not returned by the sheriff’s office.

Jacobson reportedly submitted to chemical testing, which yielded the positive for alcohol. He was subsequently charged in New Scotland Town Court with multiple DWI counts as well as for multiple Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.
