True Republicans who still believe in our democracy must stand against Trump Republicans

To the Editor:
Shame, shame, shameful lies drip like verbal dysentery from the mouths of Trump Republicans when they repeat the declaration of the Republican National Committee, stating that the Jan. 6, 2021 insurrection on our United States Capitol by ex-President Donald Trump’s supporters was an act of “legitimate political discourse.”

Ex-Vice President Mike Pence had previously proclaimed the Jan. 6 insurrection by Trump supporters “a dark day for American democracy.” Trump asked Mike Pence to overturn the election results in favor of Trump. He wanted Pence to blatantly steal the election.

That is the request of a Facist wanna-be dictator. Imagine how Republicans would react if President Joe Biden loses the next election and Vice President Kamala Harris overturned the Democratic process in favor of Biden.

This past week, Mike Pence clearly denounced Trump’s claims that he (Pence) could interfere with the will of the people. And when Pence did not overturn the election in Trump’s favor, the Jan. 6 insurrectionists repeatedly shouted and chanted that they wanted to hang Mike Pence that day.

Threatening the life of the vice president is a serious threat to our government and always means serious jail time for the offenders.

So now the RNC calls that legitimate political discourse? What if the insurrectionists had been there to hand President Trump and the rest of the Republicans? Republican supporters and politicians are disgraceful and despicable hypocrites.

The RNC has censured Republican representatives Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger for acknowledging the truth about the Jan. 6 insurrection. Both Republicans are serving on the United States House Select Committee to investigate the Jan. 6 attack on the United States Capitol.

The act of censure by the RNC by definition means they are expressing severe disapproval of the two Republicans for participating with Democrats in order to bring forward the facts about what happened during the insurrection, and who played a role in participation and planning, and how they responded when it got out of control.

Republicans want to ignore the truth and facts when the evidence already clearly shows that ex-President Trump and his cohorts were complicit in their support of the insurrection. This way they can keep the inexcusaable denialof their participation in allowing the raping of our capitol seem like it was just as they say — “legtimate political discourse.”

I challenge Republicans to publically review the videos of that day and the following reactions of their party members the next day, like that of Mitch McConnell, Lindsey Graham, and Kevin McCarthy, and still honestly claim that the violation of our United States Capitol can be called “legitimate political discourse.”

The RNC stated, following the insurrection, in 2021, that they “strongly condemn violence.” So which is it, Republicans? Do you condemn the violence of the insurrection on our capitol or do you now feed your ignorant Republican electorate the new lie that the insurrection was merely “legitimate political  discourse?”

True traditional Republicans who still believe in our democracy must stand against Trump Republicans and condemn the violence of the insurrection on our capitol. It was a violent uprising on our capitol!

If Democrats lose in 2024, apparently Republicans wouldn’t mind if the capitol is again violated by protesters just like Trumpers did on Jan. 6, 2021. Hey, it’s just legitimate political discourse!

Maybe the next group of protesters would kill more people, beat up more officers of the law, and destroy more property. What a bunch of dishonorable Republicans, following the most dishonorable president in modern history. And they don’t even care anymore that their dishonesty is exposed because they have succeeded in brainwashing the people who vote for them.

They cry “witch hunt,” “fake news,” and challenge intelligent people to stop them in their lies. It’s like a movie where we see Evil challenge Good and the Devil laughs while our Democracy is dared to exist among the throngs of Facist minions following blindly behind the Autocratic Ruler, calling themselves “Trumpers.”

It’s disgraceful that Republicans bow to Trump. What shameful representatives of democracy are Republican politicians who are no more than sycophants of Trumpism. Trump doesn’t care about these United States!

While his followers were ripping apart our capitol, he watched gleefully. That’s not how an honorable president would act. He selfishly only wants revenge over losing the election.

Republicans need to come to terms with the truth about the election and admit their false representations about those events. It’s time to move forward with a more honorable representative of their party.

It is a sad situation that he is the best that Republicans have to offer the citizens of the United States. So sad!
