Through the civil exchange of ideas on Albany’s dilapidated Central Warehouse, truth has emerged — along with a caveat for the future: Construct current buildings in such a way that they can be safely removed or converted.

ALBANY COUNTY — As the two landfills in the county begin to fill up, municipalities are starting to think — fast — about the future. One resolution passed unanimously in the legislature suggests that the issue should be handled on a regional, or at least county-wide, level.

Guilderland Water and Wastewater Superintendent Timothy McIntyre recently announced that the ban on lawn sprinkling will continue until Albany’s water main break is resolved.

At some point, someone has to push the pause button, said Yomika Bennett of the Albany County Planning Board, outlining her reservations about developers’ plans to build 173 apartments along Loughlin Street.
