A century-old elm tree is the property of 91 year old Frances Brezinski in Knox.

The Arbor Day Foundation is offering free trees to new members who join any time during January.

A tree that will go up in the lobby of the Guilderland Y on Nov. 23 is called the Giving Tree.

The tree will be decorated with tags that each represent a gift requested by a local family in need.

All of the towns and villages we cover would benefit by having as part of their policies a plan to replace cut trees, maintain current trees, and plant new trees.

The Arbor Day Foundation has a book that helps people identify trees in a simple, step-by-step process. The book, “What Tree Is That?”, is available for a $5 donation to the not-for-profit tree-planting organization.

KNOX — An ever-reliable source of holiday good cheer — and of some fine-looking Christmas trees, mainly spruce —  will be sadly missed this Christmas of 2016.

GUILDERLAND — The holiday season is fast approaching, and Earl MacIntosh has been preparing for its arrival.

A sign invites passers-by to join the tradition of placing their wishes on a tree in the Novaks' front yard on Main Street in Altamont.

GUILDERLAND — Residents of East Old State Road, and neighboring roads, like Lydius Street and Siver Road, are upset that trees were taken down by the Pine Bush Preserve, saying the land looks like a disaster area.
