"Both of these units were an absolute joy," the school district's negotiator said of Guilderland's office workers and teaching assistants.

GUILDERLAND — “Hard choices” was the phrase most frequently repeated last Thursday night as the Guilderland superintendent presented her $91.5 million spending plan for next year. The phrase was uttered by administrators and school board members alike.

Fifty people, mostly school staff and parents, offered varied viewpoints on what matters most in a Guilderland education as the district drafts its budget for next year.

School board member Vasilios Lefkaditis said his calculations showed a more grim outlook for the school's future budget decisions than administrators had presented. The agreement with Berne-Knox-Westerlo Teacher Support Staff was approved with three out of five in favor.
