Two members of the Guilderland Y Cyclones swim team have qualified to move on to the YMCA Nationals in Greensboro, North Carolina in April. 

Swimmers focused on qualifying for states as they competed on Nov. 7 through Nov. 9 at Shenendehowa. Guilderville, made up of Guilderland and Voorheesville swimmers, finished with 132 points and Helderberg Valley, made up of Berne-Knox-Westerlo and Duanesburg swimmers, finished with 295 points. A relay team and two individual swimmers from Guilderville will compete at states as will Abigael O’Donnell from Helderberg Valley.

Children who take swimming lessons have an 88-percent reduction in risk of drowning, according to a study from the National Institute of Health. This new Hilltown program stresses water safety.

The Guilderville swimming team ended its season with a seventh place finish at the Section 2 Championships last weekend.
