ALTAMONT — The Altamont Fair will be celebrating 125 years since it was founded to feature livestock competitions and horse races.

WESTERLO — The town is hosting a Summer Recreation Program at the Westerlo Town Park for the week of July 31 through Aug. 4, from 9 a.m. to noon. All children entering first through sixth grade, and who reside within the town of Westerlo, are eligible to attend.

GUILDERLAND — The town of Guilderland is currently accepting registrations for its 2017 spring and summer youth programs. There are still openings in over 100 youth sports and enrichment camps as well as swim lessons and Tawasentha Park’s half-day camp.

A county legislator is looking to secure $3,000 from a grant to bring back summer recreation programs for youth to the towns of Westerlo and Rensselaerville. Should the grant not be accepted, the legislator, Chris Smith, has said he will give up two months of his pay to support the program.

Thompson’s Lake Campground near East Berne — part of Thacher State Park — held its annual “trick-or-treating in August” event.

VOORHEESVILLE — Scant comment has been heard on a trio of laws the village is considering. The public hearing will stay open through an Aug. 10 meeting.
