Joseph Persico, a Guilderland author and Navy veteran who died in August, is honored at a ceremony on Jan. 5, where the words he wrote for the World War II monument in Washington were recalled.
“He always loved to look at things from the historic perspective,” said Mr. Persico's wife, Sylvia LaVista Persico, this week. “He liked the investigative work involved in being a historian.”
Sometimes words can move people. Two history-loving Troopers read our editorial last month and responded. We are eager to see what words will be engraved on the new marker for Corporal Mattice.
