In Knox, town board members debated at a specially held meeting how to best notify the public about an upcoming public hearing for a proposed business district at the intersection of routes 156 and 157. 

In Knox, a proposed solar array was debated again at a second public hearing held by the town’s planning board, with many against it due to concerns about construction, the viewshed, and wildlife.

Westerlo is currently facing a decision of whether or not to construct a 120-foot cell tower in order to improve cell service in the area. But some residents are more concerned about potential health risks and the visual impact.

Cynthia Elliott doesn’t mind another month’s delay on her 2015 application to have a venue for parties on her Brownrigg Road property, saying, “ I want the board to have an opportunity to reach their best decision.”

The Albany Pine Bush Preserve Commission released its Draft Management Plan Update for public review and comment on Oct. 4. The preserve, which covers over 3,200 acres, protects the globally rare pitch-pine scrub-oak barrens.

Legislators listened to teachers, parents, and school leaders with complaints about how new standards will serve students with special needs who are better off with individualized goals.
