WESTMERE — Audrey F. Bentz, a woman who “never met a stranger,” according to her family, died  peacefully on Sunday, July 26, 2015, with her daughters by her side. She was 89.

Mrs. Bentz was born in Schenectady on April 26, 1926, the daughter of the late Harry and Mabel R. (née Shaver) Fitzpatrick.

The driver told police he did not see anyone in the roadway, but heard a “thump and a woman’s scream,” said the accident report.

Rick Georgeson, a representative for DEC Region 4, said, on Wednesday, that the spill had been caused by “a problem with the electric generation equipment at the hydroelectric dam” for the Watervliet Reservoir.

“I feel confident we can construct a new building,” said Guilderland’s supervisor, Kenneth Runion, on Monday.
