RENSSELAERVILLE — The Carey Institute’s Sustainable Communities Program has been granted $62,080 from the United States Department of Agriculture to offer technical assistance to breweries and other craft-beverage producers in rural communities across the state.

The Knox Town Board postponed until March a vote to submit an application for the Clean Energy Communities grant, which the town has been in process of applying for since completing four energy-saving “action items” last summer.

KNOX — The town of Knox became one of 70 recipients of a statewide grant to improve its records system. The town received $23,156 after town Clerk Tara Murphy applied for it this past winter.

Knox has gotten a $100,000 grant from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority after the town completed a fourth and final energy-saving action item.

Civil discourse at Knox Town board meetings would yield solutions. The board should not pass up a $12,000 grant that would lead to a $100,000 grant.

ALBANY COUNTY — The Old Songs Folk Festival of Traditional Music and Dance received $1,500 from the Albany County Convention and visitors Bureau Foundation, part of $50,500 in funding for the latest round of Hospitality Grant recipients.

The town's database doesn't correspond to locations in the records room, as it is intended, Town Clerk Kimberly Swain said during questions from the town's planning board secretary during the Dec. 10 board meeting.

The interim superintendent wants to replace a Registered Nurse position with a Licensed Practical Nurse, freeing money for a plan to have home visits for early developmental needs.
