County Executive Daniel McCoy

At $733 million, Albany County Executive Daniel McCoy’s proposed budget for 2020 has increased about 2.9 percent from this year.

Part of West Lydius Street, from Carman Road to Church Road, is being renamed for Guilderland resident Army First Lieutenant Lanny G. Ladouceur, who was killed in Vietnam.

It provides an essential service, supporting and advocating for victims of sexual abuse, bullying, and crime. It needs to be part of the county charter, to keep it safe from budget cuts in the future. That's what Bryan Clenahan, the Albany County legislator representing Guilderland, believes about the county's Crime Victim and Sexual Violence Center. He hopes that the legislature will agree with him Monday night, and vote to make it part of the charter.

ALBANY COUNTY — Albany County Executive Daniel McCoy beat his challenger in September’s Democratic primary with 60 percent of the vote. In the weeks before the Nov. 3 general election, he is urging county residents to vote, just vote — no matter for whom.

ALBANY COUNTY — Democrats voting in Thursday’s primary showed overwhelming support for the incumbent county executive endorsed by the party. Daniel McCoy garnered 60 percent of the vote; his challenger, Daniel Egan, got 37 percent.

In a county dominated by Democratic voters, next Thursday’s primary will decide the next county executive.
