Artist Bruce Hilliard

ALBANY COUNTY — Bruce Hilliard, a resident of the Albany County’s nursing home, has had his artwork selected for a 2020 “Art From the Heart” calendar.

His painting is titled “Pagoda Lights” and is featured on the cover of the calendar.

Elizabeth Zunon, who grew up on the Ivory Coast in Africa and spent her teenage years in Guilderland, just published a book she wrote and illustrated, “Grandpa Cacao: A Tale of Chocolate From Farm to Family.” She is the little girl pictured on the cover of the book with the grandfather she knew through family stories but never met.

Penny Shaw, along with her husband, Rich Bartley, is directing a new generation of Comedy Kids in a new version of Shaw’s play “Not Yer Av’rage Fairytale.”

The Voorheesville Dionysians spring musical, “Mamma Mia!” is pulling double duty this year. The group’s Saturday, March 22, performance will also be the drama club’s 50th anniversary celebration.

For two years, Samantha Dell-Acqua has studied theater and film technology through the Career and Technical Education program. She is interested in every aspect of theater, she said, but her first love is acting.

GUILDERLAND — By day, he works at Guilderland’s transfer station, recycling paper and cardboard, glass and metal. In his free time, he runs Aggressive Metal Works, forging super-heated metal into hammers and axes and building scrap-metal monsters, snarling dragons, and Star Wars spacecraft.

Carol Coogan, a freelance artist who has illustrated Enterprise editorials for seven years, tied for second place in the National Newspaper Association 2018 Better Newspaper Contest.

“The emotion of abuse, Carol Coogan captures it all here. Well done,” wrote the contest judges.

Five years ago, Doug Arthur had been away from drawing for a while when one night he bolted out of a dead sleep with the idea that he was going to do a book.
