In a Friday ceremony, Altamont’s firehouse siren blasted at 8:46 a.m., marking the time Flight 11, hijacked by terrorists, crashed into the North Tower of the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001.

On Tuesday, the Altamont Fire Department held their annual remembrance of the terror attacks that occurred 17 years ago  back in '01.

On September 11, a Monday, the McKownville Fire Department blasted their station siren, fire apparatus sirens and air horns to remember the 343 fallen FDNY firefighters and the terrior attacks.

Community Service Appreciation Week was scheduled to honor local emergency responders during the week of Sept. 11, the anniversary of the terrorist attacks of 2001.

Last week, the Knox Volunteer Fire Department hosted a ceremony commemorating the anniversary of the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. Due to the rainy weather, the gathering was held inside the firehouse.
