Eat, bid, and support the library at its eighth gala

To the Editor:

The Altamont Free Library is inviting our community to come celebrate!  We are hosting the eighth Annual I Love My Library Gala and auction.  This year, our honorees are Pat Spohr and Tony Kossmann.

Our theme is: “Black and white and (read) all over.”  All proceeds from the gala are used to help us continue our mission to provide diversified services to our patrons of all ages.  We truly are a center for the community we serve and welcome your partnership in making this possible.

This year’s gala will be held on Saturday, Feb. 7, from 5 until 9:30 p.m. at the Altamont Community Room in the village hall.   The dinner will include hors d'œuvres, a wonderful meal catered by Elegant Touch, and delightful desserts created by our area’s best bakers.

Once again, our “silent auction” will offer a wide variety of donated items, including restaurant certificates, beautiful artwork, home goods, and a variety of certificates for services.  Two of the featured items in the “live auction” will be unique pieces of artwork by the late Ed Cowley, donated by Susan Burke.

The cost of the event is still $50 per person.  If you are interested in attending the gala, just stop by the library for an rsvp card.  We will gladly accept auction donations whether they are a specific item, gift card, or even a special service donated by an individual or a business.  All donations are tax deductible.

Reservations are due by Jan. 31 and will fill up quickly, so please stop by the library or give us a call soon!
