Sometimes it feels good to be a New Yorker. The last time we wrote that here was in 2011 after the state legalized same-sex marriage.

We’re feeling that way this month after two initiatives by our attorney general, Eric T. Schneiderman, who grandly waves a banner for equal justice under the law.

I am a student at Farnsworth Middle School in Guilderland. Because of the starting times in Guilderland, many of us can’t fit in school, homework, and sports while going to bed early enough to meet the requirement of nine to 10 hours of sleep.

An art exhibit and sale by members of the Capital Region Textile Artists is being held in the Helderberg Room at the Guilderland Public Library from July 1 through July 31, during library hours. The exhibition is composed of art quilts.

A group of concerned citizens from all walks of life within the Guilderland School District came together to help inform the Guilderland community of the value of keeping Altamont Elementary School open, to learn about the district plan to consider closing other schools, and to encourage the school district to think of alternative ways
