Head to the hills for Maple Weekend events

To the Editor:

Come to the Hilltowns to celebrate springtime and the beginning of the maple season.

This year’s events start off this Saturday with a pancake breakfast at the Berne Reformed Church; the Maple Fest Craft Fair at the Berne firehouse; and the Third Annual Sap Run 5K in Knox, where you can get a free T-shirt and run or walk off some calories.

This Sunday, you can enjoy a Pancake breakfast hosted by the Girl Scouts at the Berne Masonic Lodge.

Next weekend, you can find a pancake breakfast at the Lutheran Church in Berne on Saturday morning, while Sunday brings the Kiwanis Maple Fest with — you guessed it — a pancake breakfast, along with crafts, a petting zoo and pony rides.  Maple producers will be open for tours and product sales: Mountain Winds Farm in Berne will be open for all four days, Malachi Farms and Lounsbury Farms in Knox on Sunday, March 30, only.

More information on these events can be found at the Helderberg Hilltowns Association’s websites www.Hilltowns.org and www.SapRun5K.org, or by contacting us at HHApublicity@gmail.com or 872-1390.
