New Scotland Kiwanis opens youth baseball to surrounding communities

To the Editor:

The New Scotland Kiwanis Youth Baseball Registration is in full swing with approaching deadlines in March. Until this year, our longstanding baseball program served youth, ages 5 to 12 years old, from only within the Voorheesville School District.

Due to increasing competition from other spring sports groups, Kiwanis is now opening its program to youth in surrounding communities who would like to play baseball in our Minors (ages 7 to 9) and Majors (ages 10 to 12) levels.

The 2014 season runs from April 23 to June 9 and games are played at the Voorheesville Elementary School.

The Kiwanis prides itself on providing a youth baseball program that is affordable, enjoyable, and focuses on developing skills and fair play.  Very little is needed for players to come join the fun — just a glove and great attitude!  We provide the rest.

We have an initial deadline of March 16, but will accept registrations for the week following that date. We encourage parents with interested youth to contact us right away at nskiwanisbaseball@gmail.com. More information can be found on our registration website, www.leaguelineup.com/nskiwanis.

We understand this is a last-minute change to our program, but we hope that parents in surrounding communities will check our program out. To our fellow parents in the Voorheesville School District — we hope you will pass this information along for us and let others know it’s time to “Play ball with Kiwanis!” Thank you.
