In a wealthy country, community groups should not have to provide the care our veterans deserve; that is the solemn duty of government.

To the Editor:

In 1869, Dr. W. W. Hall wrote The Guide-Board to Health, Peace and Competence, a 762-page book containing his recommendations for being happy and healthy. He summarized his entire book with:

— Men consume too much food, and too little pure air;

So here’s a can of worms for Enterprise readers to discuss: It’s Diaper Need Awareness Week in New York City, Massachusetts, Connecticut, 22 other states, and 70 other cities across the country, and diaper banks are soliciting disposable diapers and money.

To the Editor:

We wanted to take a moment to say thank you to all the wonderful people in our community who supported our back-to-school program so generously. We are so touched by the amount of support we received.

Great thanks must be extended to the memory and spirits of Emma Treadwell and John Boyd Thacher. Their initial philanthropic gift of the place known as “Indian Ladder; inspired many other succeeding individuals and groups to dedicate their time and efforts to the growth of our John Boyd Thacher State Park.

To the Editor:

What's getting lost in all the conversations about Common Core, standardized testing, teacher evaluations, funding, and the power politics in the educational establishment is the real world in which the students will ultimately have to live.
