Bisnett brothers to fix computers

Teamwork: Torry Bisnett, left, and Kyle Bisnett, work together to fix a computer. The brothers are opening an information technology store in Voorheesville.

VOORHEESVILLE — “The Brothers” Bisnett are following a dream and opening an information technology store here on Main Street.

“This has always been our passion,” said Kyle Bisnett about the store he shares with his brother, Torry. Bringing IT services to others is what gets them going each  morning, Kyle Bisnett said.

“It’s nice to work with cutting edge technology, but it’s even better if you can…make it easier for people to use,” he said.

Bisnett said that he and Torry are known as “The Brothers.” The two of them, who are Schenectady natives, wanted to open their store in a “place that really could use IT,” Bisnett said. Being in the information technology business, they turned to Google and searched nearby cities for IT services — “who has it, and who doesn’t,” Bisnett said.

The brothers did not easily find an IT business listed in the village, so they searched further, this time on Craigslist.

“I wonder if there’s a store in Voorheesville,” Kyle Bisnett recalled asking himself.

The empty barber shop at 34 South Main Street was for rent, and Bisnett Industries, LLC found a home.

“Torry and I ran separate businesses for about five years, and we decided to merge,” Kyle Bisnett said. The brothers have worked together for about eight months, he said. Before the store was set to open, they did “everything on the road,” he said.

The brothers both hold full-time jobs elsewhere, but have turned Bisnett Industries into full-time jobs, as well.

“We have a lot of sleepless nights,” Kyle Bisnett said.

When they open in February, they will hire an additional full-time employee for weekdays, and the brothers will work evenings and alternating weekend days, he said.

“We handle everything for the business,” Bisnett said. “We’re certified in all the areas.”

IT shop services

“Torry will be handling the residential side of the business,” Bisnett said of his brother, “which will entail rebuilding personal computers, troubleshooting and diagnosing customer PCs, anti-virus and malware removal, and wireless network configuration and support, and software support.”

Kyle Bisnett will take care of the small-business customers by surveying

business sites and providing virtualization support, such as the use of Hyper-V or VMware — using these products, Bisnett manages services for corporate clients by wiring systems together and putting accounts in place.

“When they need to make a change, like with a new employee, we can set that up remotely,” Bisnett said.

He will also do low-voltage, structured wiring, and full-system deployments setting up client-server computer networks.

“If [companies] need to outsource their IT department, we can handle that for them,” he said.

Bisnett Industries will be a full walk-in business, Bisnett said.

An average person with a personal computer or laptop who is having issues with, or encountering viruses or malware on, his or her machine can drop it off at the store, he said. The charge for common troubles like this is, generally, under $100 at Bisnett, he said.

“We offer free diagnosis. We don’t charge to look at a computer, at all,” he said. The brothers charge only if the customer agrees to the work, he said.

“As a company, we are committed to providing the lowest prices in the

area, and the highest quality,” Bisnett said.

The brothers also make house calls. Torry Bisnett will “go to the customer and assist the customer with whatever needs to be done. He’ll rebuild it, he’ll swap out parts,” Kyle Bisnett said. “We’ll be going to people at their houses, or at a business. It alleviates the need to bring a computer in.”

The office will stock personal computer parts, he said.

“We are…geared toward people who know how to fix their own computers. We don’t use cheap parts,” he said. Some less-expensive items, like power supply products, may come with only a one-year warranty. The brothers use materials with three-, five-, or lifetime warranties, Bisnett said.

“We are a BlackBox authorized reseller,” he said about a product line.  “BlackBox is a company that offers more than 118,000 products to maintain your infrastructure, including cables, cabinets, racks, and networking.”

Bisnett Industries currently has long-term commercial customers in Galway and Scotia, and hopes to expand into areas surrounding Voorheesville, he said.

“We will also work with our small-business customers because we know how stressful information technology can be,” he said.

The store will be open for business Feb. 1, but the brothers will hold a grand opening in May, he said.
