GUILDERLAND — An Altamont man was arrested last week for selling alcohol to a minor.

“You never rezone to benefit an individual,” Weston said. “You have to rezone to conform to the comprehensive plan.”

The home of Frederick CrounseAltamont’s first doctor, at 759 Route 146, the village’s main street, has sat empty for about three decades.

“Ideally, the land would not be used for development at all,” said Hawver. “But, what they’ve proposed is a reasonable compromise.”

The school district here, like those across the state, is facing a new budget year without the ability to raise taxes unless it can get a supermajority of voters to approve a hike.
