GUILDERLAND — Mr. and Mrs. Fritz Carter of Guilderland announce the engagement of their daughter Cici Elizabeth Carter, to Cody Edward Cooper, son of Clare VanDurme and Larry Cooper of Dansville, N.Y. 

The couple met and dated during their time at the State University of New York College at Cortland in Cortland, N.Y., and rekindled their relationship again, over eight years later. 

Ms. Carter, a 2003 Guilderland graduate, received a bachelor of science degree in athletic training and a master of science degree in exercise training from their alma mater in 2007 and 2009, and will be receiving her doctor of medicine degree from the SUNY Upstate in Syracuse, N.Y. in May 2014. 

Mr. Cooper, a 2002 Dansville graduate, received a bachelor of science degree in business economics and recreation management in 2006, followed by multiple successful career endeavors in Charleston, Lake Tahoe, Nashville, and Denver.

The couple will be living in Charleston, S.C., where Ms. Carter will be doing her family medicine residency training. 

A September 2014 wedding is planned at St. Madeleine Sophie Church in Guilderland.
