The legislation would prohibit the disturbance of county-owned forests that span more than a half-acre unless the county executive places twice the value of the removed trees into a fund to be used to plant more trees.
A law just signed by Governor Kathy Hochul mandates that meeting minutes be posted online within two weeks. Minutes were already required to be made available two weeks after a meeting, but only by specific request.
At a White House press briefing on Monday, Nov. 1, Jeffrey Zients, coronavirus response coordinator, said, “As we await the CDC decision, we are not waiting on the operations and logistics ... we’ve secured enough vaccine for all 28 million kids ages 5 through 11.”
Jeffery Lee Slingerland, of Davenport, Florida, and formerly from Clarksville, died suddenly at Celebration Hospital in Celebration, Florida on Saturday, Oct. 23, 2021. He was 63.
He was the son of the late Katherine and Howard Slingerland.

GUILDERLAND — On Friday afternoon, Guilderland Police say, they foiled a bank robbery and charged Kajaro M. Evans, 19, with first-degree attempted robbery and second-degree falsely reporting an incident.
According to a release from the police, events unfolded this way:
Albany County Executive Daniel McCoy continued to push residents to get vaccinated as he announced 122 new cases of COVID-19 — the third day in a row with new cases in the triple digits. There are now 538 active cases in the county, up from 512 on Thursday.
A third of parents with children between the ages of 5 and 11 say they will vaccinate their children right away, once the vaccine becomes available, according to a recent survey from the Kaiser Family Foundation, a not-for-profit focusing on health-care issues.
