RENSSELAERVILLE — “Aunt Kate,” as Katherine S. Baitsholts was known around the hamlet of Rensselaerville, died at St. Peter’s Hospice in the early morning hours of Monday, Nov. 2, 2020, after having suffered a massive brain hemorrhage the preceding Thursday afternoon. She was 99 years old.

On Saturday morning the BKW-Middleburgh team competed in the WAC championships at Fort Plain. The boys’ team finished fourth overall with 122 points and girls’ team finished third overall with 68 points

Knox Highway Superintendent Matthew Schanz

Two uncontested Hilltowns elections went smoothly, with Matthew Schanz becoming the Knox Highway Superintendent and Karla Weaver becoming the Westerlo Town Clerk. Both had been serving in their respective positions on an interim basis after the sudden resignations of their predecessors.

Ten months into the coronavirus pandemic, Mary Beth Peterson, program coordinator for Hilltowns Community Resource Center Program, lays out her perspective of the state of the Hilltowns, which saw a spike in domestic-violence referrals and an explosive increase in donations — and clients — in the early months of the shutdown. 

Donna Arlene Lee

WESTERLO — Donna Arlene (née Slingerland) Lee had a personality larger than life, her family said.

“Donna lived life to the fullest. Strong-willed, determined, and often outspoken,” her family described her in a tribute.

She died peacefully on Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2020. She was 81.
