On Tuesday, Jan. 14, the Altamont Seniors welcomed the Altamont Elementary School third-graders to perform during their weekly luncheon. 

It is always interesting to read about the Altamont High School class reunions.

The most recent sixtieth reunion pictured and talked about people who are well-known in and around the village. They are still the supporters of our businesses, churches and fraternal organizations.

GUILDERLAND — The Guilderland Chamber of Commerce will host its Fifth Annual Guilderland Winter Restaurant Week from Saturday, Jan. 25, to Friday, Jan. 31.

In honor of the New Year, 2014, the GCC has set the Restaurant Week price at $20.14. This set price covers an appetizer, entrée, and dessert.

On Tuesday, Jan. 14, the Altamont Seniors welcomed the Altamont Elementary School third-graders to perform during their weekly luncheon. 

Currently, the town of Guilderland spends nearly $500,000 per year on electricity, and, if solar power is successful, the town hopes to save nearly $1.5 million in energy costs over the next 25 years.

GUILDERLAND — Michele Josephine Priess and Paul Leonard Reale were united in marriage by Pastor Lorenzo Agnes and Father Joseph Salerno on Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013, at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Newburgh, N.Y.

H&R Block held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 7, to celebrate its new location at Hamilton Square.

ALTAMONT — John E. Houck Sr., a patient man with a good sense of humor, died on Monday, Dec. 30, 2013, surrounded by his loving family, after a brief illness.

Mr. Houck was born in Albany, the son of the late John and Elizabeth Houck.

He and his wife, Diane Houck, who died in 2002, raised 12 children together.

A consultant said Guilderland could save 10 to 50 percent using solar energy instead of electricity, because the power would be produced locally, saving on distribution costs.
