One member of the advocacy group asserted that potential residents would be poor and therefore likely to commit crimes. The development is to be located on the front 11 acres of a 51-acre parcel, with the remaining acreage being donated to the Pine Bush Preserve.

The July 8 decision from state Supreme Court’s Third Appellate Division reverses a November 2020 decision by Albany County Supreme Court Judge Peter Lynch that stopped construction of a 222-unit apartment development on Rapp Road and proposed Costco Wholesale store on Western Avenue. 

ALTAMONT — All members of St. John’s Lutheran Church are invited to meet the pastoral candidate on Saturday, July 24, from 3 to 5 p.m., in the church’s Fellowship Hall at 140 Maple Ave. in Altamont.

On Sunday, July 25, the candidate will officiate at a call to worship service at 9:30 a.m.  

Frank Anthony Corradi

ALTAMONT — Frank Anthony Corradi of Altamont “went peacefully to be with our Lord on Monday, July 12, 2021,” his family said. He was 90.

He was born on Dec. 29, 1930, and was raised in Rotterdam, New York.

Evan Frank Campana

GUILDERLAND — Evan Frank Campana of Guilderland, a devoted father, died unexpectedly on Sunday, July 11, 2021. He was 27.

“We want to make sure we have as many tools as possible to preserve open space ...,” Guilderland Supervisor Peter Barber told The Enterprise on Tuesday. “There could be people out there who want their land protected.”

The tax impact of Guilderland’s $17.4 million project is estimated at 22 cents per $1,000 of assessed value. The median assessment for a Guilderland home is $299,000, which would pay $64 per year if the bond passed. If the referendum passes this fall, it is expected construction would begin in October 2022 and end in August 2024.

GUILDERLAND — Beth Irwin, a junior at Guilderland High School, has been named as one of the 10 scholastic award recipients for 2021 by the Capital District Sports Women of the Year.

ALTAMONT — Stephen P. Durant of Altamont, an ironworker with a passion for the outdoors, died on Friday, June 11, 2021. He was 75.
A graduate of Mohonasen High School and Utica College, Mr. Durant went to work for and retired from the Iron Workers Local Union 12 in Albany.
