Seventy-fifth class reunion: Everett Rau and D. Frances Fick Ripley, members of the Altamont High School Class of 1938, were honored on Sept. 28 at a school reunion held at the Shaker Ridge Country Club in Loudonville. The high school was torn down when the Guilderland School District was centralized over a half-century ago; Altamont Elementary Schools stands on the grounds now.

Victoria Tymchyn couldn’t make the Altamont High School reunion this year when she would have been honored as a member of the Class of 1933, but everyone at the reunion signed a birthday card for her and sent a pot of mums procured by Annie Ferraioli Wilson. Born on Oct. 27, 1915, Vicky Tymchyn still lives on the Ostrander Road family farm near Guilderland Center. She worked for Niagara Mohawk for 44 years and enjoyed retirement by taking several cruises — to Alaska, the Panama Canal, and South America. Reading and crocheting used to be her favorite pastimes; she is pleased that her limited vision still allows her to complete crossword puzzles.
