Gas-station gardener: Bruce Mance of Guilderland Mobil Service at 3903 Carman Rd. takes advantage of a sunny floor-to-ceiling window  in the family-owned automotive repair shop to start vegetables and spices from seeds each spring. He grows a varieties of tomatoes including heirloom, tumbler, and beefsteak, as well as eggplant, basil, parsley, and cilantro. When the seedlings are big enough, he takes them home to plant in his garden, he says.
