“Thanks for saving my brother,” said Michael Fosmire, 7, center, to McKownville Assistant Chief Michael Costabile and North Bethlehem firefighter Cam Becker who saved the two. Later at Sunday’s fundraiser, Michael watches as his little brother, Giovanni Felix, 3 1/2, communes with Sparky the fire dog while their mother, Amanda Sawyer, kneeling behind the two, smiles. Westmere and McKownville fire departments raised over $3,500 for the families whose home burned.

Lines went out the door during Sunday morning’s breakfast fundraiser at the Westmere firehouse to help raise money for the Morrissey and Sawyer families, who lost their house to a fire on Jan. 26. Here, Westmere firefighter Sean Maguire, Westmere Ladies’ Auxiliary members Heather Rowe and Joanne Majkut, McKownville firefighter Mary Sweeney, and North Bethlehem firefighter Quinn Malone serve up food to the 286 people that attended.
