The grass is always greener... Kids from New York City have spent summers in the country as part of the Fresh Air Fund, a not-for-profit that has helped 1.8 million children since 1877. “Make this Valentine’s Day extra special for your family and give them the gift of friendship with a Fresh Air child,” says a release from the fund. “This summer, join volunteer host families in the Albany area who open their hearts and homes to New York City children.” Fresh Air children are boys and girls, from 6 to 18 years old, who live in New York City. Children on first-time visits are 6 to 12 years old and stay for one or two weeks. For more information, call Deborah Asirifi at 212-897-8969 or visit The Fresh Air Fund online at www.freshair.org.
