Learning math and reading, he said during the Dec. 2 meeting, is like growing a plant, or riding a bike. “They learn some while you’re talking to them, but they learn a heck of a lot more when they are actually doing it themselves and you’re monitoring what they’re doing, and you correct them as they go along so they get better at it,” Palmer said of students taking tests.
