The Guilderland Senior Services is offering the following activities the week of Nov. 3. Call the senior office at 356-1980, ext. 1048 with any questions or for information.

Monday: Scheduled shopping, Christmas Tree Shop shopping trip; aerobics at 9 a.m., Strong Bones Plus at 10:30 a.m, senior fitness at 10:30 a.m., harmonic group at 1 p.m., and Strong Bones Plus at 1:30 p.m.;

Tuesday: Election Day, programs closed;

Wednesday: Scheduled shopping, Christmas Tree Shop shopping trip, Cardio Circuit at 9 a.m., senior fitness at 10:30 a.m., Strong Bones Plus at 10:30 a.m., needlecraft at 1 p.m., and Strong Bones Plus at 1:30 p.m.;

Thursday: Scheduled shopping, Strong Bones Plus at 9 a.m., Medicare presentation at 10:30 a.m., Mahjong at 12:30 p.m., and Pinochle at 1 p.m.;

Friday: Scheduled shopping, painting, Bridge at 10 a.m., quilting at 1 p.m.

Holiday luncheon

On Tuesday, Dec. 9, at noon the annual town of Guilderland senior citizens holiday luncheon will be held at the Cider House Restaurant, 6700 Dunnsville Rd. in Altamont.

The Menu will feature the entrée choice of: stuffed meatloaf with mashed potatoes or roasted turkey with butternut squash. The cost is $20 per person.

Transportation service is available for Guilderland seniors.

Tickets are available from Nov. 10 through Dec. 2.

Movie of the month

This month’s on Thursday, Nov. 20, at 10:30 a.m., in the Guilderland Town Hall courtroom we will be showing the movie, 42.

Please call the Senior Service office at 356-1980, ext.1048 by Thursday, Nov. 13 for a reservation.

This movie focuses on the relationship between baseball icon Jackie Robinson and Brooklyn Dodgers general manager Branch Rickey, who signed Robinson and in 1947 made him the first black major league baseball player of the modern era.  This movie is rated   PG13 and the run time is 128 minutes.

HEAP program

Cold months are approaching and heating costs will increase. People with monthly incomes under $2194 for one person, or $2869 for two people, are eligible for the Heating Assistance Program called HEAP. This grant can be received each heating season and goes directly to the heating company. The amount of the payment to each person is determined by income, living expenses, and type of fuel used. Applications to the program should be available Nov. 17 in the Senior Office, and if you need assistance, please call to set up an appointment.
