The Guilderland Senior Services is offering the following activities the week of Sept. 14. Call the senior office at 356-1980, ext. 1048 with any questions or for information.

Monday: Scheduled shopping, aerobics at 9 a.m., senior fitness and Strong Bones Plus at 10:30 a.m., Strong bones Plus at 1:30 p.m.;

Tuesday: Strong Bones Plus at 9 a.m., blood pressure screening at 10:45 a.m., luncheon of beef stew or cold plate at 11:30 a.m., and bingo/Rummikub at 12:30 p.m.;

Wednesday: Scheduled shopping, 20-20-20 fitness class at 9 a.m., AARP driving class at the library at 9:30 a.m., Strong Bones Plus and senior fitness at 10:30 a.m., needlecraft at 1 p.m., and Strong Bones Plus at 1:30 p.m.; 

Thursday: Scheduled shopping, Strong Bones Plus at 9 a.m., scheduled legal appointments from 9:30 to 11 a.m., Mahjongg and Pinochle at 12:30 p.m.; 

Friday: Scheduled shopping,  Strong Bones Plus at 9 a.m., AARP driving class at the library at 9:30 a.m., painting at 10 a.m., Bridge at 10 a.m., and quilting at 1 p.m. 

Fashion show and luncheon

Please plan to join us at the fashion show and luncheon at Colonie Golf & Country Club, 141 Maple Road, Route 85A, in Voorheesville, on Tuesday, Oct. 27, at noon

The fashions are by Fashions by Liz’s Closet and will be modeled by our senior ladies.

Your luncheon entrée choices are: Baked boneless pork chops with apples in a red wine reduction; broiled haddock Veronique served with lemons, Panko, and white grapes in white wine sauce; and Chicken Francais egg dipped, pan roasted with a lemon wine butter sauce.

All entrees are served with soup du jour, carrot cake and coffee and tea. 

The cost is $23 per person. Tickets are available in the senior office: Sept. 7 through Oct. 9. Please make checks payable to Town of Guilderland.

Remember to indicate your luncheon choice and if transportation is needed.

Substitute drivers needed

If you are interested in volunteering once in a while for about an hour and half this is an opportunity for you. Meals are delivered to Guilderland and Altamont residents weekdays. Please call 356-1980, ext. 1048 for further information.

Learn about Medicare

Will you soon be 65? Come learn how Medicare works. You will be informed of all the factors that you should consider when making your choices.

Are you already in Medicare but still have questions about your coverage options? There are Medicare counselors trained to help you understand your choices and options. Attend a presentation designed to provide you with an understanding of Medicare and the choices available to you.

Having trouble paying your Medicare premium or related medical expenses?  Find out if you may qualify for Federal assistance with your medical expenses.

The presentation is Oct. 29, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Medicare appointments are available with Janet Kiffney from the Albany County Health Insurance Counseling Program. She will be in the Senior Office late October into November. If you would like to schedule an informative one-on-one appointment between 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m., please call the senior office.

Pinochle players wanted

Pinochle is on Thursday at 12:30 p.m. We have players that are willing to teach you the game, but if you already can play please come and join them. Please call for more info.
