The Guilderland Senior Services is offering the following activities the week of May 4. Call the senior office at 356-1980, ext. 1048 with any questions or for information.

Monday: Scheduled shopping, aerobics at 9 a.m., Strong Bones Plus and senior fitness at 10:30 a.m., harmonic group at 1 p.m., and Strong Bones Plus at 1:30 p.m.;

Tuesday: Strong Bones Plus at 9 a.m., luncheon of vegetable fritata or cold plate at 11:30 a.m., and bingo/Rummikub at 12:30 p.m.;

Wednesday: Scheduled shopping, Cardio Circuit at 9 a.m., senior fitness and Strong Bones Plus at 10:30 a.m., needlecraft at 1 p.m., and Strong Bones Plus at 1:30 p.m.;

Thursday: Scheduled shopping, Strong Bones Plus at 9 a.m., Mahjong at 12:30 p.m., and Pinochle at 1 p.m.;

Friday: Scheduled shopping, painting and Bridge at 10 a.m., and quilting at 1 p.m.

Fashion show and

luncheon

Please plan to join us at the fashion show and luncheon at The Cider House Restaurant, Orchard Creek Golf Course, Dunnsville Road in Altamont, on Tuesday, May 19, at noon.

The clothing is from Fashions by Liz’s Closet and will be modeled by our senior ladies.

The menu includes: salad and rolls, dessert, coffee or tea with your choice of the following entrées: Baked Cod Florentine and potato or turkey with cider glazed squash and potato.

Tickets are available in the senior office until May 8. The cost is $23 per person.

Please make checks payable to “Town of Guilderland” and remember to indicate your luncheon choice and if transportation is needed.

Art show and reception

The town of Guilderland Senior Artists League will be exhibiting their work at the Guilderland Public Library from June 5 through June 26. You are cordially invited to the opening reception of the exhibit on Sunday, June 7, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the library located at 2228 Western Avenue. Light refreshments will add to the festivity.

S.A.L.T.

On June 11, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., there will be a S.A.L.T. presentation

The Office of the Albany County District Attorney’s Senior and Law Enforcement Together is a multi-disciplinary approach; it is a partnership between the district attorney’s office, other law enforcement agencies, community organizations and members of the senior community themselves.

The goal of S.A.L.T. is to heighten public awareness of elder abuse, provide prevention and intervention strategies; Offer education to those serving seniors; the ultimate goal is to combat elder fraud/abuse and exploitation.

Senior trips

The following are our trips through October:

— On Wednesday, June 17, A Lobster Feast with Karen’s Cabaret and with John Hartman, at the Log Cabin Banquet House.  The cost is $70 including lunch, show, and the bus. We will depart at approximately 9:30 a.m., and approximately between 4 and 4:40 p.m. Barbecued chicken and ribs are also served, for non-lobster eaters;

— On Wednesday, July 15, a Lake George lunch cruise on the “Lac du Saint Sacrement.” The cost is $49 including a buffet lunch, music and the bus:  We will depart at 10 a.m., and return at approximately 3 to 3:30 p.m.; 

— On Tuesday, Aug. 4, we will go to “Tanglewood on Parade” with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Boston Pops, and the Tanglewood Orchestra.  The bus and show cost $46. The departure is 6 p.m. and the return time is approximately 11 to 11:30 p.m.;

— On Tuesday, Sept. 29, a luncheon buffet at Gavin’s Country Inn. There will be a welcome game of bingo with coffee, tea, and Irish scones followed by an all-you-can-eat buffet including prime rib and shrimp cocktail, live music, and the bus for  $56. Departure time is 9:30 a.m. and we will return at approximately 4 to 4:30 p.m.; and

— On Wednesday, Oct. 7, “The Complete Works of William Shakespeare…Abridged” at the Lake George Dinner Theatre.  The lunch, show and bus cost is $71. Departure time is 10 a.m., and we return at approximately 4 to 4:30 p.m.
