Treat Mom to something sweet on her special day. The library’s annual bake sale will be held on Saturday, May 10, the day before Mother’s Day, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Westerlo Public Library.  Donations of baked goods are welcomed.

Watch for our blue banner announcing the sale. We’re so proud of this beautiful permanent fabric sign handcrafted by library trustee Lila Smith.

There will be a small selection of books for sale, too.

Display case

For the month of May the library is displaying Rae Lee Robinson’s oil paintings. Robinson’s soothing landscapes are inspired by the beauty she sees every day around her home in Berne, and the surrounding Hilltown area. While she learned to paint in Bob Ross’s wet-on-wet technique, she has developed a style and method all her own. Her work has also been exhibited at the Voorheesville Public Library. She also teaches painting and may offer classes this summer. Stay tuned for dates and times.

The Westerlo Public Library is proud to announce a $350 grant from the Stewart’s Holiday Match Program. This grant will take us a big step forward in developing an outdoor area for children’s programs, as well as use as a community space when the library is not open for business. Our first purchase will be a sturdy new picnic table.

It is through the support of individuals and local charitable organizations, like Stewart’s Foundation and their very generous customers, that we are able to strengthen our programs, and develop new and innovative library projects to serve our patrons and the community at large.

Over the past 25 years, Stewart’s Foundation and their holiday match customers have awarded over $17 million to thousands of community organizations that serve children’s recreation and education.

Thank you, Stewart’s.

We need your input

A big thank you to everyone who has taken our survey to date.  If you haven’t, there is still time. The survey only takes about five minutes to complete. The survey is online at the library website, www.westerlolibrary.org. Or pick up a paper copy at the library, the post office, or the bank.  Drop it off, put it in the book return or mail it to us.  Whether you are a regular library patron or have not used the library in a while, your input is very important to us.
