Westerlo Library Notes for Wednesday, July 2, 2014

The Westerlo Public Library will be closed on Friday, July 4, in observation of Independence Day; however, we will be open on Saturday, July 5.

Knox sesquicentennial

history

We were very pleased to be presented with two copies of the newly re-issued Sesquicentennial History of Knox (1822-1972) by Nancy Frueh, President of the Knox Historical Society. One copy will circulate and the other will go in our local history reference collection for in-library use only.

This long out-of-print book was recently re-issued by the Knox Historical Society, and is available for a donation of $10 or $13 by mail. Books will be available at upcoming events at the Saddlemire Homestead on July 13 and Aug. 3, or by contacting Charlene Stevens at cstevens397@gmail.com or 861-8393.

Fizz, Boom, READ!

Our 2014 Summer Reading Program is full of activities for readers of all ages. Sign up and explore how science influences almost every aspect of our lives, as we “Fizz, Boom, READ!”  Weekly activities will feature age-appropriate science and technology programs and activities. The full calendar of events is available on our website and at the library. Registration is now open during regular library hours.

Silent auction

The Library’s month-long silent auction will end on Thursday, July 3. The auction features six beautiful quilted table runners donated by the Westerlo Quilting Group. The quilts are currently on display at the library. Preview the quilts and get information about the bidding procedures at the library’s website:  www.westerlolibrary.org. All proceeds of the auction will benefit the library.
