The board of library trustees will meet on Monday, June 9, at 7 p.m., at the Westerlo Public Library.  This meeting is open to the public.

Book discussion

The library book discussion group will meet on Thursday, June 12, at 7 p.m., at the library.  We will discuss Shakespeare’s delightful comedy, Twelfth Night. New members are welcome.

Quilting group

The quilting group will meet on Saturday, June 14, at 11 a.m. Lead by Lila Hollister Smith, the group is open to all skill levels. The group meets the second and fourth Saturday of each month and new members are welcome.

Town wide garage sale

The ninth annual town-wide garage sale will be held on Saturday, June 14. The town museum board sponsors this annual event to raise funds for our sister organization, the Westerlo Heritage Museum.

If you would like to hold a sale on your property or at the town pavilion, please mail your registration form, and $15 fee by June 7. Your sale will be listed on a map, and advertised in the capital district. Registration forms have been distributed to the library, the post office, and other sites throughout the area. The form is also available online at the library’s website in PDF format.

The museum will sell refreshments, baked goods, and maps to sale sites on the day of the sale at the Westerlo town park on County Route 401, at 8:30 a.m. Call Kate at 797-3295 for more information.

Children’s programs

Angus the Reading Dog will visit the library again on the First Friday of the month, June 6, from 6 to 7 p.m. Contact the library to register your child for a 15-minute reading session. Angus is a registered therapy dog. Our thanks to Laura Tenney for volunteering her time and sharing Angus with us.

Toddler and preschool story time meets every Wednesday at 10 a.m. Join Miss Lee for stories, songs, games, and movement activities designed for children ages two to five years old.  In addition to developing pre-reading skills, singing, moving to music, and playing instruments all help foster a sense of rhythm, and timing that are essential elements in developing the part of a child’s brain that shapes math skills.

Technology Walk-In Wednesday

Do you have a new Kindle or Nook, but don’t know how to download books?  Need to brush up on your computer skills or obtain basic skills? See Amy on Wednesdays between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., for free, personalized, one-on-one instruction.
