Middleburgh Library Notes for Wednesday, December 11, 2013

On Friday, Dec. 13, at 10 a.m., Spanish classes for homeschoolers begins at the Middleburgh Library. Registration is required.

Make a holiday swag

On Saturday, Dec. 14, at 11 a.m., Laura Milak, horticulturist, will lead a class on how to create a fresh holiday swag. Participants will work with fresh evergreens, cones and dried botanicals to create a holiday swag to decorate their home. Participants are asked to bring their own pruners, if they have them.  Registration is required.

Puppet show

On Sunday, Dec. 15, at 1 p.m., join us at the Middleburgh Reformed Church for another wonderful performance by the Puppet People.  This show features classical music, large rod puppets, mouth puppets, a 7-foot dragon and a life-size knight on horseback for a jousting scene you will never forget!  No registration required and admission is free.

Story time

On Tuesday, Dec. 17, at 10:45 a.m., join us at the library for drop-in story time. Get ready to move in this interactive story time designed especially for children up to age 5 and their caregivers. We’ll read books, sing songs, recite fingerplays, dance and watch a short movie based on a weekly theme. No registration is required.

Book discussion

On Tuesday, Dec. 17, at 7 p.m., we will discuss Great Expectations by Charles Dickens. Copies of the book may be picked up at the circulation desk.   No registration is required.

Wednesday matinee

On Wednesday, Dec. 18, at 1 p.m., the library will show Joyeux Noel rated PG 13. On Christmas Eve during World War I, the Germans, French, and Scottish fraternize and get to know the men who live on the opposite side of a brutal war, in what became a true lesson of humanity.

Kundalini Yoga

On Wednesday, Dec. 18, at 5 p.m., join us for Kundalini Yoga. This program is facilitated by Debra Krol and involves repetitive movements with the breath, building strength, toning the nerves and clearing the adrenal glands.   Wear comfortable clothing and bring 2 blankets or a mat and blanket. A $5 donation is requested. Use the back entrance when entering the building. No registration is required.

Knitting Circle

On Thursday, Dec. 19, at 7 p.m. at the library the ladies (men are welcome, but we have not seen any yet!) of the Knitting Circle knit and crochet, embroider and quilt, and more. You can learn a new skill here, share your own special talents with others, or just craft in the company of friends. Drop in anytime. No registration is required.

Spanish classes

On Friday, Dec. 20, at 10 a.m., there will be Spanish classes for homeschoolers at the library. Registration is required.

Dinner and a movie

On Friday, Dec. 20, at 5:30 p.m. join us for a showing of the Man of Steel rated PG 13.

We will also enjoy a dinner of pizza and salad.  The library will provide the dinner and drinks and you bring a dessert to share.  Registration is required.  

Please note this film is rated PG 13 and is not suitable for young children.
