Middleburgh Library Notes for Wednesday, July 23, 2014

On Saturday, July 26, from 9 to 1 p.m., come join us for our annual book sale.  We have a great selection of books, including fiction, non-fiction, and children’s.  We also have DVD's and audio books.

Robot-a-thon

On Monday, July 28, at 2 p.m., we will be using all kinds of recycled materials to make robots of all shapes and sizes.  This program is appropriate for children of all ages.  Registration is required.

Family film

On Monday, July 28, at 6:30 p.m. we will be showing the family film, The Secret of Nimh, which is rated G. Free popcorn for all, and no registration required.  

Drop-in storytime

On Tuesday, July 29, at 10:45 a.m., get ready to move in this interactive storytime designed especially for children ages newborn to six years old and their caregivers. We'll read books, sing songs, recite fingerplays, dance, and watch a short movie based on a weekly theme. No registration required.

Mahjong mania

On Tuesday, July 29, at 1 p.m., men and women are invited to come learn the game of Mahjong.  No experience necessary.  Just a willingness to learn and have fun.  No registration necessary.

Computer help

On Wednesday, July 30, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. sign up for computer help. Make an appointment for semi-private instruction with a computer help specialist.  You'll have an hour to ask questions and have hands on instruction.  Call 827-5142 now to set up an appointment. Registration required.

Fizz, Boom, Read!

On Wednesday, July 30, at 1 p.m. Get ready to enjoy a mystery lunch prepared and served by a group of mad scientists at the Einstein’s Megatronic Cosmic Café. When you're finished, sit back and watch the movie RobotsThis program is appropriate for kids going into grades two through five.  Registration is required.

 

 

Book Domino

On Wednesday, July 30, at 5:30 p.m., let’s spark a reaction. First we'll have some pizza…because you can't think without food…and then we'll create a giant domino course with books left over from our book sale.  When it's finished, we'll knock it over and film the results.  Staying for clean-up is required.  This program is for kids going into grades six and upRegistration is required

Fizz, Boom, Read!

Today, July 31, at 1 p.m. step back in time as we explore the world of American Girl, Samantha Parkington.  Bring your dolls, which do not have to be  American Girl dolls, and your Mom to the library where we'll talk about what it was like to be a girl in 1904.  You'll make a victorian craft and a calling card to bring to the Best House, where we'll have our tea party.  Girls and Moms will meet Mrs. Best, enjoy lemonade and cookies, and have a personal tour of the house.  Each girl will go home with a goodie bag.  This program is appropriate for children going into grades two through sixRegistration required.

Knitting circle

Today, July 31, at 7 p.m., these friendly ladies (men are welcome, but we haven't seen any yet) knit and crochet, embroider and quilt, and more. You can learn a new skill here, share your own special talents with others, or just craft in the company of friends. Drop in anytime. No registration required.
