Middleburgh Library Notes for Wednesday, March 4, 2015

On Monday, March 9, at 6:30 p.m., the Middleburgh Library’s board of trustees will meet. Our meetings are open to the public. Please join us.

Story time

On Tuesday, March 10, at 10:45 a.m., join us for drop in story time. Get ready to move in this interactive story time designed especially for children up to age five and their caregivers.  We’ll read books, sing songs, recite fingerplays, dance, and watch a short movie based on a weekly theme. 

Mahjong

On Tuesday, March 10, at 1 p.m., at the library, adults are invited to come learn the game of Mahjong.  No experience is necessary, just a willingness to learn and have fun. No registration is required.

Doodlebugs

On Wednesday, March 11, at 11 a.m., join us for Doodlebugs. This program is preschool art exploration for little ones and their caregivers.  Appropriate for ages two and up.  Registration is required.

Wednesday matinee

On Wednesday, March 11, at 1 p.m. the library will have a showing of  “Into the Woods”. This movie is a modern twist on the beloved Brothers Grimm fairy tales in a musical format.   The popcorn is free and no registration is required.

Knitting Circle

On Thursday, March 12, at 7 p.m., the friendly ladies knit and crochet, embroider and quilt, and more. You can learn a new skill here or share your own special talents with others or just craft in the company of friends. Drop in anytime. No registration is required.

Film festival

On Sunday, March 15, at 2 p.m., join us for the Reel Talk Film Festival. The program is yet to be announced; it’s a viewers choice.

Book discussion

On Tuesday, March 17, at 7 p.m., this group will discuss “My Antonia” by Willa Cather.  The book chronicles the life of Ántonia, a Bohemian immigrant woman, as seen through the eyes of Jim, the man unable to forget her. No registration is required.  Books are available at the help desk

Crockpot cookoff

On Saturday, March 21, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the library will have the  Sixth Annual Crock Pot Cook-Off and we are looking for cooks to enter their creations in the categories of chili, desserts or other. It is free to enter your crockpot in the competition but you must pre-register at the library or online. All crock pots should be to the library by 10:30 a.m. and should arrive already hot — please bring a serving utensil with you. Prizes will be given in each category and will be drawn at 2 p.m.

 If you just would like to come and eat, sampling of crockpot fare and voting begins at 11a.m. and goes until 2 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults and children over five. Children under five are free. Beverages will be available for an additional $1 each. Tickets are available at the door. All proceeds benefit the library
