Guilderland Library Notes for Wednesday, March 11, 2015

If you want to have a voice in how the Guilderland Public Library serves your community, running for office to become one of the eleven library trustees who oversee library policy and operations is the way to go.

Incumbents and new candidates may run for a permanent board seat by following the steps below. The election will be held on Tuesday, May 19; this election is concurrent with votes on the library budget, school district budget, and election of members of the school board.

Library board candidates need to pick up an information packet at the library. These packets are now available at the library. Anyone picking up a packet must sign their name, address, and phone number; this information is required by the school district.

Each packet includes a memo from the director, the Library Bylaws, and a document titled On Being a Board Member, which outlines the responsibilities and opportunities the position entails. There is also a two-page biographical information sheet, which must be filled out and returned. This information is used in the library’s publicity pertaining to the election. Everyone picking up a packet is encouraged to read all the information completely.

Please call library’s director Tim Wiles at 456-2400, ext. 113, or the school district clerk at 456-6200, with any questions.

Trustees meet

GPL’s board of trustees will hold its bimonthly meeting tonight, March 12, at 7:30 p.m., in the library's Tawasentha Room. You are invited to attend.

Board meetings are video recorded and broadcast on Guilderland cable channel 17 at 2 p.m. on the Sunday following the meeting, and again at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. on the Monday following the meeting.
