Thompsons Lake

Monday, Sept. 8, was a busy day with errands.

My granddaughter, Danielle Ricketts called to tell me about their weekend. Danielle, Zoey, and Matt Babcock drove to York Beach, Me., for the weekend. Zoey loved the ocean and especially the sand.

I ended the day by riding to the transfer station with my grandson, Brandon Clark, and then going to Danielle’s house and rocked Zoey to sleep.

Tuesday, Sept. 9, was Primary Day and I worked on the election board. I get to see many of my neighbors and earn a little extra money.

Wednesday, Sept. 10, was a day to catch up on phone calls and do some housework. I went to Cobleskill with Brandon on his dinner visit with Samson and Nichole.

Samson is on the modified soccer team and had practice until 5:15 p.m. His coach, Mrs. Hotaling, is very devoted to the team and has been involved with soccer since she was seven years old.

There was a meeting for the soccer team at 7 p.m., so it was a late night for all of us.

On Thursday, Sept. 11, I was worried that my sciatic nerve is still aching and getting worse. I’m in severe pain most of the day and night. I called Dr. Gulyas, the chiropractor and was only in his Clifton Park office. He said he’d be in the Guilderland office on Friday. I don’t like to drive mush but remembered my granddaughter, Kassi Neal, had Friday off to have dental surgery. I called Kassi and we’re set to get together on Friday.

My big problem is that I promised to watch Zoey on Friday and I was worried she’d be afraid of the chiropractor.

On Thursday evening, I went to the open house for grades seven through twelve at Berne Know Westerlo with my daughter, Marcia Pangburn. Kyra is in eighth grade and is my youngest grandchild.

Samson, Nichole, and Zoey are great grandchildren. I’m very interested in what the children are learning in school ant the teaching methods used.

Friday, Sept. 12, went well. Kassi came to my house. We packed Zoey up and went to her dentist. She had a hour-and-a-half appointment.

Zoey played with a toy, and was interested in the electric toothbrush and I hid their lollipops behind a display after she got all sticky with one.

Then I took her for a walk in her stroller until Kassi came out. We then went to the chiropractor.

Zoey was glad to get back on the Hill. She doesn’t seem to like car rides.

On Friday evening, I picked Danielle and Zoey, and Marcia and Kyra and we went over to Kassi and Jared Martin’s for a bonfire.

Zoey was our big entertainment. As the radio played, Zoey danced until she got tired and fell asleep.

Brandon and Jenn Smith came and then Tom Nagengast arrived to spend the evening with us. Tom is like my son, as he and Danny were very close friends.

As the evening went along Tom got out his guitar and played some old country music in memory of Ray and Danny.

Saturday, Sept. 13, was a big day for us. Marcia, Danielle, Zoey, Brandon, Jenn, and I went to the wedding of Sabrina Jeune and Travis Richardson.

They had the wedding at their home in Westerlo and it was beautiful. They were married under a trellis decorated with flowers and the guests were seated on bales of hay.

Sabrina had sic bridesmaids, all dressed in light blue and creme. The outfits had short skirts and some of the girls wore vests. All the bridesmaids wore cowgirl boots. Sabrina’s sister Aubrey was her mad of honor.

Travis had six groomsmen dressed in white shirts and demin jeans. His brother, Matthew, was his best man and wore a plaid shirt.

Sabrina’s father, Randy Jeune, walked her down the aisle. The aisle was a stone walkway built by Travis.

Two of the bridesmaids carried Sabrina and Travis’s children, Ashlynn who is two years old and Logan who is one.

The Reverend Timothy Van Heest officiated at the ceremony.

There were an abundance of appetizers before the ceremony and then the dinner was served. There was a barbecue by Sabrina’s uncle, Kenny Springer of chicken and a pig, (the pig was raised by Travis and Sabrina). There was a beautiful wedding cake and flowers adorned the premises.

Matthew gave a toast and stated it is a blessing to have rain on your wedding day. Aubrey also toasted the newly weds and wished them the best.

Sunday, Sept. 14, was a painful day for me, but I managed to bake two loaves of zucchini bread. I slept on ice packs and hope for recovery. I had more joy than pain this weekend and count my blessings.
