Garden Club of America Honors work of Master Gardener volunteers

At the December meeting of the Fort Orange Garden Club, the Master Gardeners of Cornell Cooperative Extension Albany County were presented with a commendation for civic improvement from the Garden Club of America.

The commendation reads, “In recognition of the educational impact the Master Gardeners have had in their commitment to providing practical knowledge and inspiration for gardening to the community.”

The Albany County Master Gardeners are a group of 93 Cornell trained volunteers who offer gardening advice, classes, and talks for the gardeners of the Capital Region.  They manage the demonstration gardens at the Cornell Cooperative Extension Martin Road site, the Ten Broeck Mansion, Schuyler Mansion, and the Pine Hills Library.

Albany County residents may reach a Master Gardener by calling the helpline at 765-3514 or by emailing albanymg@cornell.edu.
